About us

My name is Loes. I was born and raised in a small farmer’s village near the large city of Utrecht which is situated in the middle of Holland. Since 1994 I have been working with dogs. In 2001 my husband and I realized our dream of starting a border collie kennel as we bought a small white farm.
Our main dream is to have plenty of play and training space for our dogs to herd sheep. But we also dreamed of breeding a litter of our own dogs.
So far all work at Conwenna has culminated in what has become our keybusiness and specialty: behavioral sciences. We can reverse behavioral problems of dogs, often caused by a lack of guidance, into a healthy relationship between the dog and its owner.
Our now florishing business thus far resulted being able to hire a permanent (voluntary) employee.

Right now everything goes rather well which is why we decided a few years ago to share our good fortune with dogs living under less fortunate circumstances. I signed up as a foster parent of the Greyhound Rescue Foundation Netherlands. Since then many greyhounds and galgos rescued from terrible conditions and even killing stations have been welcomed at our house.
Our goal is to socialize them and (re)build their faith in humans in such a way they are fit to be adopted by loving families.
In addition to that Conwenna is now helping several other foundations dedicated to helping animals in need. Our help consists of giving donations, foster care and behavioral support.
More information about helping animals in need in the Netherlands and abroad you can find in the menu on the left.

Over the years I have been increasingly specialized in the behavioral science of dogethology. In other words the general natural behavior of the dog. My main focus is dogs with behavioral problems or dogs that show signs of developing problem behavior. My goal is to work with the dog and the owner and redirect this unwanted behavior into normal behavior.
I consider my job as particularly gratifying because I am able to give the dog and owner a fresh start.

My personal philosophy is that YOU must be able to learn the (nonverbal) language of the dog order for the dog to respond with obedience.
With new insights I have adapted up my previous dog training as of September 2008 we restarted our lessons.
